Hyundai India has inaugurated its first 180 kW DC fast public electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This new facility includes connectors of 150 kW and 30 kW. This marks the beginning of Hyundai’s plan to establish a total of 100 fast public EV charging stations across Tamil Nadu.

Jae Wan Ryu, Executive Director of Corporate Planning at HMIL, emphasised he significance of this installation. He stated that the state of Tamil Nadu is home to Hyundai Motor India Limited. He furthered om the 28 years of HMIL in India, and his delight to inaugurate Hyundai’s first ever 180 kW fast public charging station in Chennai.

EV owners can access this facility through HMIL’s Charger Management System available on the myHyundai App. This app facilitates easy location tracking, navigation, pre-booking of charging slots, digital payments, and remote monitoring of charging status. Currently, more than 170 charging points in Tamil Nadu are mapped in the “EV Charge” section of the myHyundai app for user convenience. This service is accessible to both Hyundai and non-Hyundai EV users.

Located at Spencer Plaza Mall, Anna Salai, Thousand Lights in Chennai, the charging station is placed near customer amenities such as coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping centers.
