Finally, there’s a mass-market sedan in India thanks to the Honda City e:HEV. Priced at Rs 19.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the City e:HEV is only available in the top-spec trim. If you fancy this City hybrid, then you’ll have to shell out another Rs 4 lakh over the top-spec variant of the standard City.
The engine is, without a doubt, the most talked-about aspect of the City hybrid. It features a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors that produce a combined output of 124 bhp and 25.79 kgm, and it’s connected to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It also comes with three drive modes: electric, hybrid and petrol. Honda claims that it has a 26.5 kpl fuel efficiency.
Honda offers not only hybrid technology but also a slew of safety features such as disc brakes on all four wheels, an electric parking brake with auto hold, Lane Keep Assist, Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High Beam and six airbags.
The interior of the City hybrid is dual-tone, featuring an 8-inch touchscreen multimedia head unit and a 7-inch colour TFT instrument cluster (which is standard). It also has features such as an electric sunroof and a walk-away auto lock.
Moreover, the Honda City hybrid is covered by a 3-year unlimited-kilometre warranty. Customers can also choose between a 5-year Extended Warranty and a 10-year Anytime Warranty. The lithium-ion battery comes with an 8-year or 1.6-lakh-kilometre warranty (whichever is earlier). Well, we’ve already had a go in the City e:HEV hybrid, you can read all about it here.
