Infiniti hops on the SUV coupe bandwagon with one of the more handsome cars yet, save for the origami-inspired mesh grille design. Putting the grille aside, up front the QX55 boasts an aggressive design language. Its LED headlights are quite sleek and the fog lights get some angular gloss black accents. Since this is an SUV coupe, there is a sloping roofline which is subtly executed. It’s paying homage to the earlier Infiniti FX in some way with that design, too.

Powering it is a variable-compression 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine which is good for 268 horses and 38.71 kgm of torque. The special bit about this VC-Turbo engine is that it consistently varies its compression ratio between 14:1 and 8:1 to deliver high-efficiency driving or better acceleration at lower revs. Power is sent to all four wheels via a CVT that features ‘shift-by-wire’ technology. This will ensure that during slippery conditions, the power is evenly distributed between the front and rear wheels.

Hop inside and you’ll see two touchscreens on the dash with the top 8-inch display for infotainment and the lower 7-inch display for other vehicle controls. It is compatible with Android Auto Apple smartphone users even get wireless Apple CarPlay. In addition to that, there are four USB ports, three type-A ports and one type-C. Now, for the seats, the upholstery can be specced out depending on what you choose from Luxe, Essential and Sensory trims. It will be launched in the North American market in Spring next year.
