Ferrari has officially unveiled the Ferrari 849 Testarossa in India, introducing its newest flagship series-production supercar to the market. The new model effectively replaces the Ferrari SF90 Stradale at the top of Ferrari’s lineup and will rival the hybrid hypercar performance of the Lamborghini Revuelto.
Prices for the Ferrari 849 Testarossa start from Rs 10.37 crore (ex-showroom) before options, and deliveries in India are scheduled to begin in the second half of this year. As Ferrari’s most powerful series-production model yet, the 849 Testarossa brings together extreme performance, hybrid technology and classic Ferrari design cues in a package that pushes the brand’s performance envelope even further.
Powering the Ferrari 849 Testarossa is a plug-in hybrid powertrain built around a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine paired with three electric motors. Two motors are mounted on the front axle, while a third motor sits between the engine and the gearbox, helping boost performance and efficiency. The V8 engine alone produces 830 bhp, while the combined system output climbs to an astonishing 1050 bhp, making the 849 Testarossa the most powerful road-going Ferrari yet.
Energy for the electric motors comes from a 7.45 kWh battery pack, which also enables the supercar to drive in full-electric mode for up to 25 km. Power is delivered through an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox sending drive to the rear wheels. Ferrari claims the 849 Testarossa can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in just 2.25 seconds and reach 200 kph in 6.3 seconds, before eventually topping out at 330 kph.
In terms of design, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa blends modern aerodynamic elements with subtle references to classic Ferrari styling. The front features distinctive L-shaped LED headlamps connected by a black strip that stretches across the nose, giving the car a sharp and recognisable face.
From the side, the supercar gets a contrast black roof and A-pillars that create a floating roof effect, along with a large set of sporty alloy wheels that emphasise its aggressive stance. At the rear, Ferrari has introduced a twin-tail design along with an active aerodynamic panel capable of generating up to 100kg of additional downforce. The exhaust system is mounted higher on the rear fascia, further enhancing the car’s performance-focused appearance.
Inside, the Ferrari 849 Testarossa features a driver-centric cabin layout built around a large 16-inch digital instrument display that also integrates infotainment functions and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A high-set centre console runs between the seats and houses the gear selector, adding to the cockpit-like feel of the interior.
Ferrari has also responded to customer feedback by replacing the previously used haptic steering wheel controls with traditional physical knobs and switches. The cabin also includes a 7-speaker audio system, while the passenger receives a slim 9-inch display for additional information and entertainment. As expected from Ferrari, customers will be able to extensively personalise the exterior colours, interior materials and trim options to create a uniquely specified 849 Testarossa.
