BMW has finally added a petrol variant to its entry-level sedan – 2 Series Gran Coupé. In terms of pricing, the 220i M Sport slots in between 220d Sport Line and 220d M Sport; at an introductory price of Rs 40.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The other two variants are priced at Rs 40.40 lakh and 42.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India), respectively. Moreover, the 220i is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol motor which churns out 187-bhp and 28.55-kgm of torque. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Furthermore, BMW claims a 0-100 km/hr time of just 7.1 seconds, which is slightly better than the diesel counterpart at 7.5 seconds. Other than that, the 2-Series gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, M-Sport badges all around, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, M-Sport steering wheel, aluminium pedals and a whole lot more. And since it is M-Sport, there are even sportier bumpers and side skirts.

Rivals to the 2 Series are in the form of the Audi A3 sedan and Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine, are expected to arrive later in the year, which should certainly make things a little more interesting. Meanwhile, do let us know which variant of the 2 Series Gran Coupé would be your pick?
