Improving fuel efficiency usually comes with conditions: change your driving or riding style, service your vehicle more often, or invest in mechanical upgrades. Jio-bp is taking a different route altogether. With its petrol featuring ACTIVE technology, the company is offering improved efficiency and engine health, without asking motorists to change anything at all.
The ACTIVE technology petrol is formulated with advanced additives designed to actively clean critical engine components, such as valves and cylinders. Over time, engine parts naturally accumulate carbon deposits and dirt, which reduce efficiency and smoothness. Jio-bp’s ACTIVE technology works continuously to reduce these deposits and help prevent future dirt build-up, allowing the engine to operate closer to its optimal condition.
The result is measurable. Cleaner internals mean smoother running, and gains of up to 100 km of additional mileage per year, depending on usage. Importantly, these benefits are achieved without altering engine hardware or driving habits; it’s done simply by filling up with the Active Technology Petrol.
Jio-bp demonstrated this ACTIVE technology petrol at India Energy Week 2026 in Goa, and one detail immediately stood out: pricing. Despite the added technology, Jio-bp is not charging a premium. The additivised petrol is priced the same as regular petrol, making the benefits accessible without increasing running costs.
Beyond improved mileage, the ACTIVE technology petrol also contributes to reduced engine deposits and smoother performance. Cleaner engines typically require less maintenance over time, which translates into lower ownership costs and improved long-term reliability, an important consideration for Indian motorists.
To demonstrate its effectiveness, Jio-bp conducted a controlled test using two identical motorcycles. Both were of the same make and model, and had similar levels of dirt and carbon deposits in the engine. One of these ran on Jio-bp’s new ACTIVE Technology petrol for 4,000 km. Once the test was done, a borescope inspection revealed that the accumulated deposits in the engine parts were cleaned significantly, validating the real world impact of the fuel.
The new ACTIVE technology petrol is already available at all Jio-bp outlets across India, at no additional cost. While conventional wisdom often emphasises changes in driving behaviour to improve efficiency, Jio-bp’s approach shows that fuel chemistry itself can deliver meaningful gains.
Commenting on the launch, Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, Jio-bp, said:
“Indian motorists value simple, real-world benefits—engines that run smoother, are more reliable, have reduced maintenance, and which deliver more kilometres for the same fuel spend. We offer petrol that actively cleans the engine as you drive, helping reverse the effects of harmful deposits. Our aim is to democratise advanced fuel technology by making high-performance engine clean-up a standard offering, ensuring customers across India benefit from it every day.”
Akshay Wadhwa, CEO, Jio-bp, added:
“Backed by five years of intensive work in fuel chemistry, this petrol not only enhances fuel economy but also reduces maintenance. The motorcycle with ACTIVE technology petrol was run for 4,000 km at the Coimbatore testing track, and the improvements translate into gains of up to 100 km per annum. This is clear differentiation, backed by science.”
