VLF or Velocifero, an Italian EV company has announced its arrival in India, partnering with Kolhapur-based KAW Veloce Motors. The first product to be offered in our country will be the Tennis E — an electric scooter that will be manufactured and sold via KAW’s channels.

Who is VLF?

Velocifero is the brainchild of Alessandro Tartarini, the son of Leopoldo Tartarini, who founded the wild scooter brand — Italjet. His son seems to be following the same footsteps, building radical products. The first product from VLF came in 1993, and eventually in 2015, the company introduced Mad — its first electric vehicle that was a kick-scooter and scooter hybrid. Currently, the company is established in 55 countries and has a wide portfolio that includes kick-scooters, ICE and electric scooter, e-motorcycles, e-bikes and even two-wheelers for kids.

What is the VLF Tennis E?

The Tennis is a neo-retro electric scooter from VLF that comes in two variants: 1.5 kW and 4 kW. It looks unmistakably Italian with its smooth and clean lines. The LED headlight with its DRLs is quite unique, almost resembling the Disney character Wall-E.

It features a 1.5 kW or 4 kW motor paired with a 1.4 kWh battery for the lower and a 2.8 kWh for the top variant. While the lower variant can clock a claimed top speed of 60 kph, the other one can go to 100 kph. There’s Eco, Comfort and Sport riding modes, and no other fancy feature to boast of. That said, the scooter flaunts a 5.5-inch TFT display on both variants

With the Italian company setting up a manufacturing and distribution hub in India, we expect the Velocifero Tennis E to be affordable. And since the company is so serious about our market, it will be safe to assume that the Jump and Mad range of e-motorcycles will also make their debut in India.
