TVS has introduced its latest Apache RTR 160 4V iteration, priced at Rs 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom). For an additional Rs 14,000 over the previous version, riders gain several enhancements, including a 37mm Upside Down (USD) front suspension, SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity, and more.
The new Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by a 159.7cc oil-cooled engine, delivering 17.3 bhp at 9,250 rpm and 1.5 kgm of torque at 7,500 rpm. As city commuters go, it packs a punch! The bike now features 37mm USD forks, a notable upgrade over the previous telescopic setup. Riders also have access to three ride modes — Sport, Urban, and Rain. Are they necessary for a 160cc machine? Perhaps, but they do add versatility to its performance.
Another standout feature is Glide Through Technology (GTT), now a staple in the Apache series. It allows riders to navigate heavy traffic without throttle or clutch input, making urban rides smoother. Additional updates include adjustable brake and clutch levers, the ‘Bullpup’ exhaust and dual-channel ABS, replacing last year’s single-channel system, along with LED head and tail lamps for improved visibility and style.
Building on the foundation of its predecessor, the Apache RTR 160 4V now integrates TVS SmartXonnect™ technology. This enables Bluetooth connectivity, providing turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts, and voice assistance, making every ride smarter.
Visually, the bike sports a refreshed look. Gold-coloured USD forks, red alloy wheels, and a new colour palette featuring Granite Grey, Matte Black, and Pearl White enhance its appeal.
Remaining a commuter favourite, the Apache series has sold over 1 lakh units from January to June this year alone. Positioned between the Pulsar NS160 at Rs 1.47 lakh and the Xtreme 160R at Rs 1.11 lakh, the question arises: will these upgrades push it to the top of the segment?
