Triumph Motorcycles has launched the most powerful iterations of the Rocket 3; the Storm R and the Storm GT, prices for which begin from Rs 21.99 lakh and Rs 22.59 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom). Triumph says this is a new generation of the Rocket, which has come twenty years after the original Rocket made its debut.
While the new Rocket duo retain the 2,458 cc engine, power and torque figures have now gone up by 15 bhp and 4 kgm, with the Rocket 3 Storm R and Storm GT producing 180 bhp at 7,000 rpm, while 22.94 kgm of torque comes in at 4,000 rpm. The suspension comes courtesy of Showa, with 47 mm compression and rebound-adjustable forks, and a fully-adjustable monoshock. In terms of braking equipment, it gets twin 320 mm discs with radially-mounted Brembo Stylema callipers at the front, along with a 300 mm disc with M4.32 four-piston radial-mount monobloc callipers at the rear.
Design-wise, while the core profile of the Rocket 3 has been retained, the Storm R and Storm GT now feature blacked-out components nearly everywhere on its body, which would otherwise receive chrome or silver finish on the standard Rocket 3 models.
In terms of features, the Storm R and Storm GT receive bits such as cornering ABS, hill-hold, traction control, four riding modes, a colour TFT instrument cluster, cruise control, keyless ignition, backlit switchgear, and USB charging among other things. The Storm GT benefits further with the addition of heated grips.
With price tags of Rs 21.99 lakh and Rs 22.59 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom), the Triumph Rocket 3 Storm R and Storm GT are still more affordable than the Ducati Diavel V4, which comes in at Rs 25.91 lakh.
