More from Motoring

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 is one of the most anticipated motorcycles of this year, and before the bike makes its big debut next month, is already making headlines. RE has embarked on a journey to conquer the mighty Himalayas with the new Himalayan.

With 24 riders and three Himalayan 452s, Royal Enfield is covering over 5,000 km from its Oragadam factory in Chennai to the world’s highest motorable pass – Umling La in Ladakh. This exercise is aimed at testing the ADVs touring capability and its durability in the harsh conditions.

This ADV gets the unmistakable Himalayan styling, combining retro elements with modern touches. Unlike the 411cc bike, this one is thoroughly modern with all-LED illumination, including the rear indicators that double up as tail light.

Leaked Details Of The New Himalayan

But the highlight of the Himalayan 452 is its new engine – the first liquid-cooled unit from the Chennai-based manufacturer. Leaked documents suggest that this mill will develop close to 40 bhp and the bike could weigh around 210 kg.

The new Himalayan could be priced around Rs 2.70 lakh (ex-showroom). This would put it square against the KTM 390 Adventure X. With RE’s fanbase and the potential of this ADV, the Austrian bike certainly has something to worry about.
