India’s stint with minimotos may have been short with only the Rajdoot GTS 175 ‘Bobby’ and the Honda Navi being the memorable ones, but foreign markets enjoy a bunch of these pocket rockets. One of the new ones is the QJMotor SRF15, a shrunken-down version of the SRK400.
The SRF15 carries that same angry look on its face like its 400cc sibling. Its brow-like LED DRL and the dual headlight has an air of seriousness around it, even though the bike’s size may suggest otherwise. Everything from the tank, the underbelly exhaust, LCD console to the floating license plate holder and even the way the trellis frame is highlighted is inspired by the bigger bike.
But instead of a big, multi-cylinder engine, the SRF15 packs a 150cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine pushing out 13 bhp and 1.1 kgm. Now, this may not seem much, but the performance is equivalent or close to most bikes in the 150cc or 160cc segment like the Suzuki Gixxer and the Yamaha FZ Version 4.0. What makes the SRF all the more fun is that the bike tips the scales at just 124 kg which makes it lighter than most 125cc bikes in our market.
Like any big motorcycle, QJMotor has used USD forks at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear to take care of suspension duties while disc brakes at both ends drop the anchor. However, this pint-sized rocket runs on 12-inch alloy wheels.
There are a bunch of brands under the QJMotor umbrella and quite a few are on sale here. In fact, the group has everything from maxi-scooters, cruisers and roadsters to scramblers, ADVs and even a supersport on sale in India. So, the minimoto should fill the small void and we could have practically all genres of two-wheelers from the Chinese company. That said, just like the Honda Grom and Monkey, Kawasaki Z125 Pro and the CFMoto Papio, this bike is unlikely to grace our streets.
