More from Motoring

Taiwanese brand Kymco has been making a lot of noise with its futuristic product concepts. And as we have seen in the past, the company also delivers a production version of its concepts soon after. So, the production version of the newly-unveiled Kymco CV-R5 adventure scooter concept shouldn’t be far away.

One look is enough to tell that Kymco is not kidding about the ‘adventure’ part. I mean, the tall windshield, vertically-stacked headlights a la the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE, long-travel suspension, dual-purpose tyres, high-mounted exhaust and the panel design scream ‘ADV’. And going by the specs, this is unlikely to be an ‘all show, no go’ product.

Powering the CV-R5 is a new liquid-cooled 427cc engine making close to 4 kgm. Though the company has not revealed whether this is a single or a twin-cylinder engine, the torque figure suggests it is the latter. With that performance, is the safety net of ABS and traction control.

Kymco is likely to flaunt the production version of the CV-R5 ADV scooter at the EICMA 2025. As much as we would want to see one on the Indian streets, it is unlikely to happen. But wait, isn’t it high time that Hero gives us the Xoom 160?
