With the teasers and our anticipations boiling over the last few days, Kawasaki has brought to India, the Ninja 500. Last unveiled in 2023 November at EICMA 2023, the Ninja 500 will replace the Ninja 400 in India. Here is what you should know!
Powering the Ninja 500 is a 451cc parallel-twin engine producing a peak power of 45bhp @9,000rpm and a peak torque of 4.3kgm @6,000rpm mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Compared to the Ninja 400, the 500 will have a larger engine stroke.
A fully faired motorcycle that sits on a 41 mm telescopic front fork with 121mm of travel and a mono-shock gas-charged rear with 130mm of travel on the wheels. The braking system is comprised of a 310mm front and a 220mm rear disc that comes with dual-channel ABS.
The seat sits at a height of 785mm with a total height of 1120mm and a width of 730mm, the bike features clip-on handlebars, a raised tail end, split seats and a small windscreen. Weighing at just over 170kgs and with a 14-litre fuel tank, this bike will come in one single metallic spark black colour scheme.
Speaking on the technical side, the Ninja 500 will feature an LCD instrument cluster which will come equipped with smartphone connectivity through which riders will have access to their vehicle information and other community features. The bike will have Kawasaki’s intelligent proximity activation start system, a charging port with USB type-C and LED head and tail lamp clusters along with indicators.
Kawasaki India has only launched one single variant, the standard, while the international Ninja 500 receives two variants, the standard and SE. The Ninja 500 Standard is now priced at Rs. 5.24 Lakh (Ex-showroom) and is officially in India.
