Hot on the heels of the launch of the Ninja ZX-6R, Kawasaki has launched the Eliminator 500 in India at Rs 5.62 lakh (ex-showroom India).
Team Green’s new cruiser features an updated version of the 400cc engine seen on the Ninja 400. The new 451cc powerhouses utilises a 6.8mm longer stroke, bigger throttle bodies and a larger airbox. All of that has resulted in a peak output of 45 bhp and 4.34 kgm. Kawasaki has paired this engine with a 6-speed gearbox that comes with a slip and assist clutch.
The Kawasaki Eliminator features a new trellis frame suspended onto a telescopic fork and dual shock setup. The Eliminator runs on an 18/16-inch alloy wheel setup with disc brakes at both ends backed by dual-channel ABS. Unlike the Vulcan S, the Eliminator doesn’t have forward-set footpegs, but instead gets slightly rear-set ones for a sporty character. And with a kerb weight of just 176 kg, this should indeed be fun.
Though there are no direct rivals to the Kawasaki Eliminator here, the closest ones are the Benelli 502 C and the upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. The latter not only packs more performance, but will be significantly more affordable. But which of these would be the most fun? We shall find out soon.
