Revamped styling and a few mechanical tweaks set the Jawa Forty Two Version 2.1 apart from the BS6 variant which was launched last year. This will be sold alongside the standard version and will be priced at Rs 1.84 lakh, ex-showroom, India. With time, Jawa will also incorporate the mechanical updates as seen on this version on the standard Forty Two and Jawa Classic as well. For now, the Jawa Forty Version 2.1 is only available in the dual-channel ABS trim.
The most obvious change would be the blacked out sporty alloy wheels, gone are the wire-spoked wheels as seen on the older Jawas. If you have a Classic Jawa and you fancy this wheel design then Jawa is offering them as accessories, too. It has also ditched chrome on many surfaces and replaced it with a blacked-out theme. For instance, the front and rear springs, the headlight trim, and the exhaust gets that blacked-out look. The sporty quotient doesn’t end here, however. It also gets a fat racing stripe over the fuel tank with 42 and Classic Legends decal on it. That’s a good reminder considering Classic Legends are the ones now manufacturing Jawas in India. Apart from that, there are other few things which are available as accessories like the headlamp grille, fly-screen and rear metal. Only the new bar-end mirrors seen on this bike will be available as standard equipment.
Talking about the engine performance, it has seen a minor increase in its power. With 0.8 bhp increase in power, it now produces 27 bhp and 2.75 kgm of torque. Jawa has also strengthened the chassis and adjusted the front spring’s preload. It has even shed a kilogram in its kerb weight, now weighing 171 kg, thanks to the removal of the catalytic converter from underneath the bike.
