Indian, the American cruiser giant, has launched its exclusive Roadmaster Elite in India at an eye-watering price of Rs 71.82 lakh (ex-showroom); that’s in the league of the cars like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine. So, what makes this Indian so pricey?

The Indian Roadmaster Elite comes draped in an exclusive tri-tone candy paint job with gold-coloured pinstripes and is done by the industry’s finest custom paint shops — GCP and CPV. Each bike takes over 24 hours to be painted and finished. And of course, to show off that exclusivity, there’s the Elite badging on the bike.

There’s also the PowerBand audio system with 12 speakers located in the front fairing, saddlebags, and touring trunk which packs more sound than the system on the standard models. Indian has also equipped the Roadmaster Elite with adaptive LED headlight which is more powerful than the ones on the standard bike. Needless to say, it comes with all the usual luxuries like heated and cooled seats, passenger armrests and electronically  adjustable windshield.

All that gorgeous bodywork makes the Roadmaster a proper heavyweight, tipping the scales at 403 kg. However, with the 1900cc V-twin ‘Thunderstroke’ engine, pulling all that weight isn’t an issue. And there’s a 20.08-litre fuel tank for all the mile munching.

The Indian Roadmaster Elite is surely an expensive motorcycle, but it brings with it a chance to own a piece of art that you may seldom find another example of.
