CFMoto is taking significant strides toward high-performance electric motocross bikes with the unveiling of its CF-X Concept, a near-production version of its previous EVMX prototype. While CFMoto currently offers two electric kids’ dirt bikes, the CX-2E and CX-5E, the CF-X is a major leap in performance, designed to compete with traditional 450cc ICE bikes. This follows the trend set by brands like Honda, which entered the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup, and Yamaha, which has been developing its own electric motocross machine.
The CF-X Concept features a 400V electrical system, three riding modes, and a power output comparable to a conventional 450cc gas-powered bike. Although exact power figures have not been disclosed, the bike’s performance capabilities are set to challenge top-tier motocross machines. The CF-X is built with a light, durable frame and features fully adjustable WP suspension, a brand connected to CFMoto through its partnership with KTM and the Pierer Mobility Group.
One distinctive design element is the rear-mounted radiator, which offers efficient cooling for the electric powertrain, likely important when stationary or during charging. The 400V system suggests rapid-charging capabilities, which could set the CF-X apart from other electric off-road bikes. With a claimed weight of just 125 kg, the CF-X looks to be designed for agility and performance.
CFMoto has yet to reveal full specifications, such as battery size, range, or recharge time, however, we’ll likely see a final production version of the CF-X by 2026. Lots of fun electric stuff to look forward to seeing then!
