With the ever-increasing developments in the world of two-wheeler motorsports, here comes another fabulous announcement. Ducati has confirmed that they will be branching out into the world of motocross next year, with plans of debuting a prototype in the 2024 Italian championship. This news comes after two years of hushed development, much to the delight of enthusiasts.

A totally new world for Ducati in which we want to bring our talent in designing lightweight motorcycles, with excellent components and high performance and – above all – which can excite more and more motorcyclists. Just as we believe that the track is the best laboratory to develop and test the bikes that will then be available to customers and enthusiasts’, said Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding.
Having signed a deal with nine-time Motocross World Champion Antonio Cairoli, who will help test and develop the new machines, Ducati has also roped in eight-time Italian champion, Alessandro Lupino to race for the brand next season in the domestic series. Although there are few details available at this time, it has been confirmed that the new machines will feature Ducati’s signature Desmodromic valve system which should allow for a broad power curve.
The move, which is set to bring in a full range of off-road motorcycles and engines, follows close on the heels of the announcement from Triumph on plans to contest the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2024. Interestingly, Ducati has also announced the Superquadro Mono single-cylinder road engine to be unveiled shortly. Lots to look forward to then.
