CFMoto, the popular Chinese automotive brand, has pulled the wraps off its new 675SR-R supersport bike. Flaunting the Aspar team colours, this is a one-off example ahead of the production version that’s expected to follow later this year.
The CFMoto 675SR-R looks like a souped-up version of the 450SR. For starters, the front-end is similar to the smaller supersport with its tick-shaped LED DRLs, but is now flanked by some serious aero elements. On the side, the bike flaunts its underbelly exhaust and taut sub-frame. And just like a true track machine, there are aero elements at the rear, too. Then there are bits like the racing footpegs and aero brake cowls that further assert the bike’s racing DNA. However, look closely and you’ll see provision for the pillion footpegs and rear-view mirrors hinting that the road-legal, production-spec bike is ready.
This supersport is powered by a new 675cc inline-triple motor that CFMoto showcased last year at EICMA. Though the performance figures are yet to be revealed, the company claims that the power output is north of 100 bhp. However, do not expect much in terms of electronics, as CFMoto intends to equip the bike only with traction control and ABS.
CFMoto is likely to introduce the production-spec 675SR-R in the coming months to take on the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R7, Aprilia RS660, Triumph Daytona 660 and the Suzuki GSX-8R. It is only fair to assume that a naked bike on this platform will follow. And given the silent death of the brand in India, we don’t expect the supersport to grace our shores.
