The BSA Gold Star might be the most talked about single in the country right now, but UK-based boutique motorcycle manufacturer — CCM Motorcycles’ Street Moto and Street Motor R might want to chime in.
For the uninitiated, CCM Motorcycles has a roadster, bobber, street tracker, scrambler and now a supermoto based on one platform — spitfire. This platform uses a 600cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that makes close to 50 bhp and 5 kgm. CCM uses a light chromoly trellis frame to house the engine. And almost everything on all the bikes is different except for these two components.
In the case of the CCM Street Moto twins, carbon fibre bodywork is shared with its flat-tracker sibling. However, the Street Moto flaunts 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with road-focused tyres, J.Juan brakes coupled with Marzocchi forks and a YSS shock. And with all of that, it tips the scales at 141 kg.
If that wasn’t enough, there’s a version ‘R’ on sale, too. With bits like Dymag UP7X wheels, exposed carbon fibre bodywork and underseat exhaust, this one not just looks tad more hot, but also drops 2 kg over the standard version.
And if even that doesn’t cut it, CCM’s in-house customisation department — CCM Skunkwerx will help you trick out your Street Moto. But at £9,995 or Rs 9.34 lakh onwards for the standard version, it definitely costs some serious money. But hey, you can’t put a price tag on the fun, right? Well, the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono, a great example of that, isn’t it?
