Did any of you folks wish for an electric scooter that had a swappable battery option? Well, it’s finally happening as Bounce Infinity’s launched its first electric scooter, the E1, in India. The E1 will be available in two options. For Rs 68,999 (ex-Delhi), you will get the scooter with a battery and charger, and for Rs 45,099 (ex-Delhi), you will get the scooter with the ‘Battery-as-a-Service’ option. The latter option will work similarly as a subscription plan for the Battery-as-a-Service option.

The E1 has a range of 85 km and a top speed of 65 kph. For the 2-kWh lithium-ion battery to fully charge, it takes around 4 to 5 hours. Plus, Bounce’s battery swapping network will give you the choice of swapping your empty battery with a fully-charged one for Rs 65 per swap. Now, if you’re all right with swapping batteries on a regular basis, then you better note that the battery weighs around 13 kg. Of course, the battery is waterproof (IP67 rated) and you can charge it in any regular electric socket. One can already think of scenarios of riding the E1 to work and charging its battery there.

On the performance front, the E1 has 8.46 kgm of torque, that’s enough to propel it from 0-40 kph in 8 seconds. It’s equipped with twin disc brakes along with EBS which will help recharge the E1’s battery every time you brake. Moreover, there are a few modes like Power Mode for swift acceleration, Eco Mode for efficient travelling, Reverse Mode for moving the scooter backwards, and an interesting Drag Mode. Nothing to do with speed here, but it enables the scooter to move at walking speed to help you push it along just in case of a puncture. With a 12-litre boot, the E1 has a decent storage capacity. There are plenty of smartphone-enabled features which will help you control the scooter.

The E1 will be available in five colour options: Sporty Red, Sparkle Red, Pearl White, Desat Silver and Comed Grey. We know you can’t hold your excitement yet, but the test rides for E1 will begin from the 10th of December. So, you can wait before you pre-book one for Rs 499; deliveries will begin by March 2022. The E1 definitely looks promising, to say the least! Do stay tuned for our detailed review of it.
