TVS recently announced that it has started producing the BMW CE-02 electric motorcycle at its Hosur plant. At the moment, the German bikemaker hasn’t revealed its plans of launching the CE-02 in India.

BMW CE-02: The Urban Monkey

The BMW CE-02 is an electrified monkey bike, perfect for city jaunts. It gets a very industrial design, and the compact proportions should make it a hoot to make way through the rush-hour traffic. Would be pretty nifty for our traffic conditions, right?

The 11kW motor and a 5.09 kgm of peak torque also favours its case. However, what most may  not find to their liking is the 90 km claimed range from its 2 kW battery. But the smaller battery size also means you can charge your CE-02 in under two hours and be back on the road.

For this electric bike, BMW has used a 37mm USD fork and a monoshock to take care of the suspension duties while disc brakes at either ends drop the anchor. Lastly, unlike most bikes here that run on 17-inch wheels, this one gets 14-inchers at both ends.

CE-02 Electric Bike India Launch

Though there are no hints of this electric bike coming to India, BMW Motorrad and TVS might just introduce it here for kicks and laughs. Because, the CE-02 is priced at an equivalent of Rs 7 lakh in the United States. The localisation would make it more affordable here, but even at half the price, it would still be an expensive proposition in a market like ours.
