After its debut at the EICMA 2024, the Aprilia Tuono 457 has been finally launched in India with a price tag of Rs 3.95 lakh. This makes it Rs 15,000 cheaper than the Aprilia RS 457, but more importantly, it is Rs 1 lakh (all prices ex-showroom) more expensive than the KTM 390 Duke — the bike that the Tuono aims to dethrone.

The Aprilia Tuono 457 gets the same liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor that puts out 47 bhp and 4.5 kgm of torque from the RS 457. Just like its faired sibling, the Tuono also gets a 6-speed gearbox and ride-by-wire. There are three riding modes: Rain, Eco and Sport along with three-level traction control. All the electronics can be accessed via a 5-inch TFT instrument console.

Bits like the preload-adjustable USD forks at the front and monoshock at the rear, disc brakes at both ends backed by dual-channel ABS have not been tinkered with.

The Tuono 457 is of course an RS 457 sans the fairing and the clip-on handlebars. However, unlike the other Tuonos in Aprilia’s lineup, the 457 doesn’t get the half fairing. While the front-end design does end up being a bit polarising.

The Aprilia Tuono 457 comes across as a serious threat to the KTM 390 Duke which recently received a price cut of Rs 18,000. Considering the performance and the features that the Tuono packs, will it be the new king of the 400cc nakeds? We’ll be riding it soon to find that out.
