Triumph Motorcycle India has quietly introduced the Scrambler 1200 X in India at Rs 11.83 lakh (ex-showroom India). The British marque introduced the updated Scrambler range last year for foreign markets, and with that came the new nomenclature: X being the accessible one, and the XE being the hardcore version of the bike.
What makes the Scrambler 1200 X accessible is a seat height of 820 mm. Suspension duties are handled by 45 mm Marzocchi USD forks and dual shocks at the rear, both offering 170 mm of wheel travel. Interestingly, for the X, Triumph has used a shorter swingarm, contributing to agility on the tarmac.
There are no major aesthetic updates to the Scrambler 1200. It continues with the unmistakably scrambler design with its minimal bodywork, high-mounted exhausts and the 21/17-inch wheels. That said, there are subtle changes to the bikes like slimmer indicators and a compact tail light, along with new paint schemes and graphics.
There are no major changes to Triumph’s 1200cc powerhouse and it continues to produce the same 89 bhp and 11.2 kgm. The House of Hinckley, however, has done minor improvements to enhance its capabilities. The intake and exhaust channels have been revised to deliver a broader range of torque.
In terms of electronics, both the bikes feature IMU-based suite with Rain, Road, Sport, Off-road And Rider configurable mode. Interestingly, both the bikes have their unique throttle maps and traction control and ABS settings.
There are no direct rivals to the Scrambler 1200 X, but if you want a big bike that can handle some dirt and munch miles, the Ducati Desert X should do just fine.
