We got to sit down with Saurav Kumar, Founder & CEO of Euler Motors, unveils the Turbo EV 1000 – India’s first 1-tonne electric mini truck. With a real-world range of 170 km, fast charging, and an aggressive starting price of ₹5.99 lakh, this game-changing vehicle aims to accelerate EV adoption in the country’s commercial transport sector while addressing key challenges of affordability and performance.
What was the idea behind developing the Turbo EV 1000?
Saurav Kumar: After launching the Storm EV, we saw strong potential for EV penetration in the commercial vehicle space. However, affordability remained a major barrier. EVs are expensive globally, whether it’s two-wheelers, cars, or commercial vehicles. Fleet operators and drivers need vehicles that are cost-effective and reliable since these vehicles run daily, delivering groceries, packages, and essentials.
We focused on solving two key problems — affordability and performance. The Turbo EV 1000 bridges that gap, offering strong performance while being priced competitively, starting at Rs 5.99 lakh. It’s the world’s first 1-tonne electric mini truck, a segment we believe can accelerate EV adoption in India.
Can you share the key specs and features?
SK: The Turbo EV 1000 delivers a real-world range of 140-170 km on a single charge and 14.27 kgm of torque, the highest in its category. It supports fast charging via CCS2, adding 50 km of range in just 15 minutes.
We’ve launched three variants — City, Fast Charge, and Max — catering to different applications like e-commerce, FMCG, and heavy-duty logistics. Customers can also choose from different body types, including flatbeds and covered containers.
How do you see this segment evolving in India?
SK: India sells around 5 lakh small commercial vehicles annually, with about 2 lakh in the 1-tonne category. We believe this segment will electrify faster than others because it sits right next to the three-wheeler space, where EVs have already taken off.
The economics make sense — operators save up to Rs 1.15 lakh annually compared to diesel vehicles, thanks to lower fuel and maintenance costs. As charging infrastructure grows and financing becomes more accessible, adoption will accelerate.

Are you investing in charging infrastructure as well?
SK: We’ve aligned with CCS2 fast-charging standards, which are already widespread due to passenger EV growth. Rather than building a closed ecosystem, we collaborate with multiple partners like Tata Power and Statiq to ensure accessibility. Where needed, we’re ready to deploy dedicated chargers for our customers.
What’s next for Euler Motors?
SK: Our focus is to accelerate India’s EV transition. We want to build globally competitive products right here in India, tailored to our unique road and climate conditions. The Turbo EV 1000 is a big step forward, and we aim to expand while staying close to our customers’ needs.
Any closing thoughts?
SK: The Turbo EV 1000 isn’t just another product launch — it represents a new phase of electrification for India’s logistics industry. By making EVs affordable and practical, we hope to inspire not only fleet owners but the entire ecosystem to move towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.
