Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the new Toyota Camry in India; this is the popular car’s 9th generation. It has been on sale internationally since last year, and is a significantly revamped model, with Toyota’s global design language, a new interior, and a host of additional features. The new Camry will be offered with a hybrid powertrain, as usual.
The 2024 Camry has a much bolder and more dynamic exterior design, with sharper lines, a wider grille with horizontal slats, LED headlights and tail lights and creases on the doors. The rear end isn’t too different from the older model, with wraparound taillights and a chunky chrome strip. In profile, the roof line is more angled, and you’ll notice a new alloy wheel design.
The interior looks much more impressive in the new Camry, with better materials, and more features. Prominent among these are a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instruments, a panoramic sunroof, a more powerful JBL sound system, a new steering wheel, new seats, multi-zone climate control, a HUD, 9 airbags and an ADAS suite.
The new Camry sits on the TNGA-K platform, on which several Toyota and Lexus cars are based. In terms of its engine, the car will continue to be powered by a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder hybrid petrol engine, with a combined output of 227 bhp and 23 kgm of torque. An eCVT gearbox will do duty.
The new Toyota Camry has been brought to India via the CKD route, and Toyota says that bookings are open, with deliveries to follow soon.
