With the Royal Enfield Interceptor-based Bear 650 scrambler being the current hot topic, let us revisit something that was showcased a few years ago. A scrambler concept from BSA, based on the Gold Star 650, was on display at the 2022 edition of Motorcycle Live, in Birmingham.
BSA’s concept bike featured a taller suspension setup with dual shock absorbers on the rear, a fresh paint scheme, and dual-sport Scorpion Rally STR tyres on wire-spoked wheels. Other visual differences include new switchgear, a new handlebar, a mono-pod display unit, a flat bench seat, and more scrambler-esque components.
Now, while it was an interesting concept to see, plans have been in motion to make a production scrambler based on the Gold Star 650. Considering the upcoming launch of the Royal Enfield Bear 650, the timing couldn’t be more apt for Classic Legends to pitch a challenger for the title.
The ‘twin-cylinder vs big single’ discussion has been a lively one, but the scrambler aspect gives it a new direction to branch into, considering the respective character of both engines. Stay tuned for a detailed review of the Royal Enfield Bear 650, and check out our review of the BSA Gold Star 650 in the meantime.
