Škoda Auto Volkswagen, through the government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative, has reimagined the ‘pickup truck’.
This year, students from the Mechatronics programme have created a one-of-a-kind pickup truck by merging elements of the Volkswagen Taigun SUV and Volkswagen Virtus sedan.
The truck boasts underbody protection, studded tyres, ambient lighting, and roof-mounted lights. With its rugged, imposing look, this vehicle seems built for survival. Picture a family, strapped in and ready for anything, cruising through a post-apocalyptic wasteland in style—this pickup truck feels like their ultimate fortress on wheels.
This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to youth development, aligning with recent budget announcements that emphasise skill-building.
The Škoda Auto Volkswagen Academy’s Dual Vocational Training in Mechatronics, established in 2011, is based on Germany’s vocational system. This 3.5-year full-time programme prepares high school students for careers in the automotive sector, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills while introducing them to the latest industry technologies.
