Rs 95,000 is what you’ll have to begin with if you want to get your hands on the world’s first CNG bike. The Bajaj Freedom 125 has finally arrived, and given that it claims to offer 50% cost savings by reducing fuel expenses, it should certainly serve as an interesting alternative against other ICE motorcycles, and EVs also to some extent. Well, can it though? That’s something that’ll be answered over a much longer period of time, but for now, we’ve got some details for you.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 comes with a new 125 cc engine, putting out 9.3 bhp 0.98 kgm of torque. The CNG tank is placed horizontally under the seat of the motorcycle, and tips the scales at 2 kg. It is also said to provide more than 200 km of range on 2 kg of CNG, while total range combined with petrol stands at a claimed 330 km. Speaking of which, the Freedom 125 gets a 2-litre auxiliary fuel tank, as a range extender that can run for 130 km.
With an 825 mm seat height, most riders should not be facing too much problem, and the monoshock rear suspension is likely to offer a softer setup, considering that there has been a focus on comfort here rather than rider thrills. In terms of equipment, the Bajaj Freedom 125 comes with a digital instrument cluster with bluetooth connectivity, and an all-LED lighting setup.
The Bajaj Freedom 125 comes in three variants; the NGO4 drum at Rs 95,000, the NGO4 drum LED at Rs 1.05 lakh, and the NGO4 disc LED at Rs 1.10 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
