Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP has confirmed that Remy Gardner will replace the injured Alex Rins for the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland this weekend. Following a crash at the start of Sunday’s race at Assen, Rins underwent surgery for a fractured right wrist and ankle, ruling him out of the German race.

This will mark Gardner’s return to MotoGP™ in 2022. He expressed excitement about the challenge and gratitude to Yamaha for the opportunity, highlighting the experience as a valuable learning moment.

Rins shared that his surgery went well and he is heading home. Despite the setback, he expressed hope for a swift return and remains motivated to continue working hard.

Team Director Massimo Meregalli has expressed relief that Rins’ injuries were not more severe and wished him a speedy recovery. Meregalli also thanked Gardner and the GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK team for facilitating Gardner’s participation at short notice, ensuring the team would support him throughout the weekend.
