The Hyundai i20 had effectively single-handedly helped create the premium hatchback segment back in 2000s. Two generations later, it continues to be a strong market player, even with increased competition. Now to keep it relevant, three years after the Elite i20 was introduced, Hyundai has given the the car an update.
And while it remains unchanged mechanically, there’s now an optional dual-tone paint for the exterior, a complementing dual-tone scheme for the interior, and a new seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with plethora of connectivity options viz. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mirror Link).
Elsewhere it’s the same, well-appreciated Hyundai Elite i20. There are three engine options (a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.4-litre petrol with 4-speed automatic gearbox, and a 1.4-litre diesel), six variants, and five colour choices. Additionally there are two other dual-tone options that go well with the current fashion trend in the automotive industry.
On the launch of the updated version, Hyundai India’s Managing Director and CEO, said, “The Elite i20 has been a runaway global success, selling over 300,000 units since its launch in 2014. The New 2017 Elite i20, with more First-in-Segment features will further enhance the brand’s appeal offering Premium Safety, Performance and Exceptional Driving Experience to the customers.”
Prices start at Rs 5.36 lakh for the base petrol, Rs 6.66 lakh for the base diesel, and Rs 9.09 lakh for the petrol automatic. The latter is available in just the Magna Executive trim.
