Just in time before we donned our ‘market analyst’ capes, here’s a quick information on how well car companies did in the Indian market last month. The list will be updated as more information pours in.
Maruti Suzuki
The company managed to sell 1,49,143 units, out of which 1.37 lakh were in the domestic market, and the remaining 11,822 for export. In comparison to September last year, this was a growth of 31.1 per cent.
Said growth can be attributed to products like the Vitara Brezza and Baleno (among other strong products), both of which have helped to register 191 and 12.3 per cent increase in their respective segments. Also, Maruti’s first LCV, the Super Carry also managed 44 units last month.
Ford
Ford sold 22,590 cars in September, out of which 9,018 units were sold in the country. The rest 13,572 vehicles were exported, thus bumping the exports. The company also expanded its network with a new 48,000 sq. ft big sales and service station in Kolhapur.
Tata
Tata Motors, on the other hand, recorded an overall growth of eight per cent. The total number of vehicles sold in September was 48,648, which included 14,601 passenger vehicles, and 28,360 commercial vehicles. The overall export figure is 5,687 units. Strong demand for the Tiago helped the company register a growth in sales of passenger vehicles by 24 per cent, while the export grew by 29 per cent.
Hyundai
Recording an overall growth of 4.7 per cent, Hyundai Motor India sold 42,605 vehicles last month, and made 16,606 exports. In comparison to the corresponding period last year, while the domestic sales remain similar, the exports grew up by 18.3 per cent.
Nissan
With 4,948 vehicles sold, in comparison to 2,616 units in September 2015, Nissan registered an overall growth of a whopping 89 per cent. Datsun redi-GO is said to have made a promising start as well.
