Datsun has launched a sportier-looking redi-GO, called redi-GO Sport in India. The limited edition car also marks an association with Sakshi Malik, the female wrestler who made the country proud at the recent Rio Olympics. So that sorts the ‘Sport’ connection, and priced at Rs 3.49 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi, the car comes with aesthetic features which set it apart from the regular version.
On the outside, the changes on the special edition variant include new body graphics, roof-mounted spoiler, colour-coded (black in this case) grille and wheel covers — and of course red accents on both. The interior is finished in black, there’s a Bluetooth-enabled audio system, remote keyless entry, and even reverse parking sensors. Paint choices are Ruby, White, and Grey.
No mechanical changes have been made to the car, so the Sport monicker is limited to its looks only. Just to recapitulate, the redi-GO shares its platform with the Renault Kwid and comes powered by a 0.8-litre petrol engine. Unlike the Kwid, which has a crossover styling, the redi-GO is more conventional, but the Sport version stands out.
And no prizes for guessing that Sakshi Malik was also presented with a new example of the car as an honour for her performance at Rio.
