Originally introduced only in the R-Design guise, the Volvo XC40 is now available in multiple trims. With that said, it must also be mentioned that the introductory price of Rs 39.9 lakh, ex-showroom, is no longer valid. But thankfully even with the slight price revision (following the confirmed bookings for the first 200 orders in a matter of 14 days since the launch) the XC40 retains its great value proposition when compared to its main rivals.
Mechanically the car remains largely unchanged, and the variants only differ in standard features. The rejigged model line has the Volvo XC40 Momentum sitting at the bottom of the range. It’s priced at Rs 39.9 lakh, but comes with features like panoramic sunroof, front radar, 9-inch touchscreen, hill descent control, reverse parking camera, etc.
The R-Design model enjoys the best of both worlds. And apart from the visual upgrades, it also gets specific R-Design-specific bits like seats and remote key, sports chassis, and features also standard on the Inscription variant: wireless charging for phones, adaptive cruise control, Harmon/Kardon audio system, power-operated tailgate, etc. It’s now priced at Rs 42.9 lakhs, ex-showrooom.
The top-spec Volvo XC40 Inscription is priced at Rs 43.9 lakhs. Needless to say it adds luxury to the vehicle, with features like electrically foldable rear head rests, bright decor side windows, six-spoke alloy wheels, Inscription branding, crystal gear knob, wood inlays, 12-volt outlet in the boot, etc.
