In the midst of buying a Volkswagen Polo? Hang, on. Because Volkswagen has launched the Polo ALLSTAR, a special edition which will be available with both the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines, sans the ones in the GT models, and it does come with some useful features. The special editions are based on the Highline trim, and is about Rs 40,000 more than the Highline petrol manual and the Rs 20,000 more than the similarly spec-ed diesel. For the extra money, Volkswagen has included new 15-inch diamond cut alloys, a central armrest (finally), new upholstery with central stripes, a rear AC vent and a aluminium pedals. Also, the ‘Blue Silk’ color which was still now exclusive to the Ameo, is available with the special edition. While the ALLSTAR petrol is priced at Rs 7.51 lakh, the diesel is a Rs 9.07 lakh, all prices being ex-showroom, Mumbai.
In other news, in a rather low-key way, Volkswagen has started to include the updated 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Ameo and facelifted Rapid in the Vento. This is the one which makes 108 bhp and 25.5 kgm and will be available with both the five-speed manual and the seven-speed DSG. Volkswagen has also launched a special edition of the Vento, called the Preferred edition. It is based on the middle variant ‘Comfortline’, and adds to it a few features to entice buyers who are not keen on spending more for the top-end Highline trim. The new features include alloy wheels, leather seat covers, a portable navigation device and a reversing camera. Volkswagen has not announced a price for the Preferred edition, save for saying that it will be ‘attractively priced’.
