More from Motoring

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that due to the increasing costs of manufacturing and foreign exchange rates, the products will have their prices hiked from January next year. That of course means you can save (up to three per cent) on the cost by making the purchase this year.

But should you decide to wait for 2017, the reasons behind said hike include increase in input costs and parts imported from Japan. The latter is due to the improved value of Yen in the international market.

So while it’s understandable that (from the company’s perspective) not much can be done about the external factors, how does the company ensure that customers don’t feel over-taxed?

That’s where the Remember December Campaign comes in. To start with,  the company has begun accepting cashless payments, so that you don’t have get in the long queue at the bank. Secondly, there’s a 100 per cent finance available on the on-road cost of the vehicle. Good!

Most importantly, there are schemes under which you could buy the car now and pay the amount by March 2017, and one which offers certain variants of the Innova Crysta at a low EMI of Rs 22,999.

None of these will have you flying to the Toyota dealerships, but if you were planning to buy one, this campaign will ensure that your buying experience doesn’t involve higher prices, long ATM queues, or robbing a bank. But of course, in case you were planning the latter, the hike won’t have affected you anyway.

In the more serious matters, last month, the company registered an overall growth of 10 per cent (YoY). Not just that, it has, since the respective launches, managed to sell 50,000 units of the Innova Crysta, and has received over 6,200 bookings for the new Fortuner.
