With an increased localisation, Renault India has found a way to make the Duster more lucrative to prospective SUV buyers. The MY2018 version now retails for up to a lakh less than it did in 2017.

The base (RXE) petrol starts at Rs 7.95 lakh, which in comparison to its price for the MY2017 version is cheaper by Rs 55,925. The Renault Duster STD 85 PS Diesel is cheaper by Rs 50,663, while the top-spec RXZ 110 PS AWD Diesel now retails for Rs 12,79,000, ex-showroom — that is a price reduction by a lakh. Even the more popular mid-level diesel variants have their prices decreased by about Rs 80,000.

Renault India Operations, Country CEO and MD, Sumit Sawhney said, “Renault had one of the highest localization done on KWID with 98% at the time of launch. We are happy to pass on the benefits to the new Duster customers making it more attractive across the range enabled by our aggressive localisation strategy on Duster as well.”

The prices are effective from March 1, and the revision also makes the Duster the only SUV longer than four metres to be offered with an automatic variant under Rs 10 lakhs, mentions the company.
