The Mercedes-AMG A 45 S isn’t your standard AMG, folks. It’s got a spec sheet that you would probably find on a supercar but, at the same time, it is also a practical hatch with four doors and a boot. With 415 bhp of humongous power available on tap from the ‘world’s most powerful’ 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine.

Every AMG engine that goes inside the A 45 S is assembled entirely by hand. This makes the AMG A 45 S hotter than any hot hatch as it can rocket to the 100-kph mark in 3.9 seconds! And its top speed is electronically limited to 270 kph. Moreover, you get different modes, and our favourite has to be the drift mode. Of course, you can toggle between the different driving modes. Plus, you have a personal racing engineer monitoring all the data when you’re driving in the form of AMG Track Pace, just for you to analyse and improve your driving ability.

You cannot mistake it for any Mercedes hatch, thanks to the sporty kit that it carries. For instance, its bold AMG-specific radiator grille, the flared wheel arches housing 19-inch alloy wheels, and the round twin tailpipes. Inside, you are greeted with plush interiors and tech while you make yourself comfortable in those AMG sport seats. Of course, you can further customise the exteriors and interiors to your preference as well.

How much will one have to pay, though? Well, all that crackling performance in a hatchback will set you back by Rs 79.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). If you ask us, that’s some bargain! Stay tuned for our review on it.
