MPVs might be perfect for large families but their appeal to large families (apart from the space) is still limited. No matter what you buy in the segment, there are very few things which keep reminding you that it’s a personal car and not something that you’d have got had you booked an Uber XL or whatever Ola’s equivalent service is called. Maruti Suzuki, being the market leader it is, has decided to change that image, and launch an MPV that’s likely to be positioned as a premium offering from the brand.

So it’s no surprise that it’s bound to be sold via Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA range of dealerships — and not the regular/Arena chain. The vehicle in question is called the Maruti Suzuki XL6 (nice nod to the Grand Vitara XL-7), is based on the very popular Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, and as Maruti Suzuki’s latest press announcement says, is ready to be launched.

MSIL’s Executive Director for Marketing and Sales, Shashank Srivastava said, “Maruti Suzuki is ready to roll out the next level of excitement with the XL6, a premium MPV, at NEXA showrooms across the country. Apart from the space and functionality that the customers desire for, the all-new XL6 offers a blend of sporty design and premium interior, which will help it in establishing its niche in the MPV segment.”
