Mahindra might have an MPV in the pipeline, but that doesn’t thwart its plan from offering one to its customers now. The company today launched the Jeeto Minivan, which, to even someone with as much sense as a President (whose name may or may not rhyme with Frump), is evident that it’s based on the Jeeto platform. The people mover is being touted as one of the most cost-effective options out there, thanks to a low purchase price (starting at Rs 3.45 lakh, ex-showroom, Mumbai) and a claimed fuel economy of 26 kpl.

Available in two body styles (hardtop and semi hardtop), the Jeeto Minivan is also said to offer car-like drivability and best-in-class comfort. Marketing jargon aside, there’s also a warranty of 2 years/40,000 km, BS IV compliance on the engines, etc. There are three powertrain units: petrol, diesel, and CNG. The diesel unit produces 16 bhp and 3.87 kgm. The petrol version makes 23.2 bhp and the CNG a good 19.72 bhp.

The Jeeto Minivan is available in three colours, gets disc brakes up front, an openable tailgate, and a dual-stage coil spring suspension for a good ride quality. An ideal upgrade from three-wheelers, it’s also being offered with good EMI schemes.

M&M’s President for its Automotive Sector, Rajan Wadhera said, “The popular Jeeto brand has already set new benchmarks in innovation, performance, safety and comfort, and the launch of the Jeeto Minivan will further extend its platform for last mile passenger transportation. At Mahindra, we have identified specific need gaps amongst the customers and I am sure that the Jeeto Minivan will provide a more efficient, safe, and comfrotable mode of transport to our customers. In fact the Jeeto Minivan will also be an ideal option for three wheeler customers to upgrade, as we enable them to Rise by driving positive change in their lives.”
