It’s no secret that the Land Rover Discovery as a brand depends heavily on its workhorse image. It completes 30 years of existence globally this year, and the new model’s presence has made it even more appealing. Having said that, in the Indian context, the price tag might have been a deterrent because with the V6 diesel, the base Discovery (Diesel) costs Rs 89 lakh, ex-showroom. But that’s no longer a concern, as Jaguar Land Rover India has now included a 2-litre diesel engine, effectively bringing the base price down by close to Rs 14 lakhs.

The 2019 Land Rover Discovery can now be specced with a 2-litre ‘Ingenium’ in-line four diesel engine that makes 237 bhp and 51 kgm. Since it’s available in S, SE, HSE, and HSE Luxury trim, features remain unchanged. Along with the ability to seat seven in comfort (regardless of the surface the Discovery traverses), it boasts a 34-degree approach angle, 27.5-degree ramp angle, and 30-degree departure angle. It can tow up to 3.5 tonnes and has a water wading capacity of 900 mm. In terms of features, the Discovery gets a four-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, powered third row seats, electrically reclining seats, surround camera, and adaptive cruise control, among other things.

Jaguar Land Rover India’s President & MD, Rohit Suri said, “The Discovery’s unmatched capability and versatility has now been enhanced with the introduction of the high powered Ingenium diesel variant at an attractive price that we believe will enable the Discovery to appeal to a wider customer base.”

Apart from the two diesel engines mentioned above, the Land Rover Discovery is also available with a 3-litre V6 petrol engine, with prices starting from Rs 76.94 lakh onwards.
