BMW recently decided to give the X2 a more distinctive and appealing visual edge with the X2 M Mesh Edition. Other than having a slightly complicated name, this new special edition X2 is based on the M Sport X model. The M Mesh edition will be launched in certain global markets sometime in November 2020, and we’re unlikely to be one of those markets.

Given the name, one of the major changes you’ll find is the BMW kidney grille finished in high‑gloss black with a three-dimensional mesh design. There’s also the new Frozen Black-Brown metallic colour option. You also get mocha inserts in the bumper trim, cladding on the side skirts, doors, and the wheel arch trim.

There are also decals on the bonnet, front bumpers and doors, too. They are finished in Orange and complement the new Brooklyn Grey metallic paint finish, which is exclusive to the M Mesh Edition, as well as the Sapphire Black metallic exterior shade. Finishing off the looks from the outside are the M-spec wheels, which come in both 19 and 20-inch sizes, with inserts in the same colour as the decals.

On the inside, the X2 M Mesh Edition comes with M sport seats with integrated head restraints and leather covers with Alcantara inserts. To match the styling on the outside, there’s contrast stitching in Orange on the seats, instrument panel and centre console. The floor mats too get edge binding and stitching in Orange and entry sills with “Edition” lettering. Apart from this, there are the M stainless steel pedals, M driver’s footrest, M leather steering wheel and M badging for the manual gearbox-equipped variants.
