Here’s a tip: If you’re looking to purchase a new car for someone you love, do it on Valentine’s Day. Because apart from it being the only time you would rush into an Archies ‘gallery’, it also happens to be the date when Honda will launch the City facelift. On February 14; for those with a weak General Knowledge.

Bookings are now open at all Honda dealerships against a deposit of Rs 21,000. While final changes will be announced at the time of launch, the car will come with a ‘new LED package, enhanced safety package, and a new AVN system,’ the company has confirmed.

The updated City, announced in Thailand last month, has a new headlamp assembly, redesigned grille and front bumper, LED taillamps, dual-tone interior, new wheels, etc. Since Honda has confirmed a new AVN infotainment system’s presence, we expect the new Android Auto- and Apple CarPlay-equipped, larger touchscreen-flaunting unit to make it to the Indian model.

Engine choices will remain unchanged, with a 1.5-litre petrol (i-VTEC) and a 1.5-litre diesel (i-DTEC) completing the range. What remains to be seen is whether Honda decides to include a six-speed manual gearbox on the former, as seen on the BR-V crossover SUV.

That will make the car lovelier. And fittingly so on Valentine’ Day.
