Ford has pulled the plug on manufacturing cars in India. But you do not have to worry about your beloved Ford car. Ford says that it will still provide full support operations with service, aftermarket parts and warranty services. The brand will, however, continue to sell imported CBU vehicles. And in the future, it is keen on bringing the Ford Mustang and even the electric Mustang Mach-E. So, the dealerships will still be functional for its CBU models. Also, it will continue to sell the remaining units that are left in stock.

Ford will work closely with employees, unions, dealers, and suppliers to care for individuals directly impacted. Manufacturing of vehicles for export will wind down at Sanand vehicle assembly facility by Q4 2021 and Chennai engine and vehicle assembly factories by Q2 2022.

By enhancing automotive operations and capitalising on exceptional potential in electrified and connected vehicles, as well as enhanced customer experiences, Ford India’s restructuring will advance the Ford+ agenda for development and value creation.

Lastly, all we can say is that we’ll miss the dynamic cars that Fords produced in India and we hope to see ’em again in the future. Fingers crossed.
