The new Audi RS 5 Coupé has been launched in the Indian market, priced at Rs 1.1 crore, ex-showroom. The two-door coupe is essentially the most driver-focussed A4/A5 derivative on the market, and is a product of Audi Sport, the German carmaker’s performance division.

Powering it is a 2.9-litre bi-turbo V6 petrol engine that makes 444 bhp@5700-6700 rpm and 61.22 kgm@1900-5000 rpm. With a 40:60-split quattro system and 8-speed tiptronic gearbox (both standard), the car manages to do a 0-100 kph in 3.9 seconds and a limited top speed of 250 kph (both company claimed). Under ideal conditions it’s also more environment-friendly than before, exhaling under 200 g of CO2 per km. The claimed fuel economy isn’t bad at 10.28 kpl.

Audi RS 5 Coupe launched in India

Being a top-spec Audi, features aren’t going to be anything but plenty. Apart from the standard ones (which we’ll get to in a bit), the RS 5 is also available with an optional aluminium matt package for the exterior. There are eight colours to choose from, including popular ones like Nardo Grey and Sonoma Green.

The rather-long list of equipment includes front sport seats, panoramic sunroof, dynamic steering, 19-inch alloy wheels, quattro system with a self-locking diff, B&O sound system, Audi Virtual Cockpit, Leather/Alcantara upholstery, etc. The options list includes additional use of carbon fibre/carbon look on things like mirror housing, engine cover, etc; Nappa leather upholstery; brake calipers covered in glossy red finish, etc.
