More from Motoring

In a segment that’s mostly concerned about frugality and utility, it’s hard to come up with new products that entice new customers. But TVS Motor has managed to do that with the newly launched TVS Radeon. It’s a 110-cc-engined motorcycle but one that despite a simple, utilitarian design doesn’t look unappealing. So while we try to fathom how that’s worked, read on to find out more about it.

Look beyond the rather robust looks and you’d find a steel tubular chassis, 18-inch wheels, thigh pads on the tank, a handsome amount of ground clearance (180 mm), and what’s being claimed as the largest seat in the segment — both in terms of length and girth width. The headlamp also gets an integrated DRL and a chrome bezel around it. In addition there’s been quite some use of chrome elsewhere on the motorcycle, possibly to make it look less monotonous. There are four colours to choose from: white, beige, purple, and black.

Other features include a USB charging port, side-stand indicator, and what TVS calls Synchronised Braking Technology, which improves the braking efficiency and reduces the chances of skidding. The 109.7 cc engine ‘Dura-Life’ engine makes 8.28 bhp@7000 rpm and 0.88 kgm@5000 rpm. The motorcycle boasts a 10-litre tank and a claimed fuel economy figure of 69.3 kpl.

President and CEO of TVS Motor Company, KN Radhakrishnan said, “We are delighted to launch TVS Radeon here today, targeting the discerning progressive customers. TVS Radeon boasts multiple first-in-class features and usage-led design, which offers strength, comfort, and style without compromising practicality.
