More from Motoring

The motorcycle gods have heard our plea and it won’t be long until we see the Suzuki Katana on our roads. By the way, if you did not know, the motorcycle’s name is derived from the Japanese sword Katana.

The modern Katana’s 999cc inline-four engine produces 150 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 10.81 kgm of torque at 9250 rpm. Suzuki has revised the rider aid package for the Katana, including the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector system with three selectable throttle maps, and making internal changes. These changes include a new ride-by-wire system and smaller 40-mm electronic throttle bodies. Moreover, Suzuki’s Easy Start system, an improved slipper clutch, a bidirectional quickshifter, a five-level traction control system, cornering ABS, and low RPM assistance, and these systems are all integrated.

The Katana also comes with an LCD instrument cluster and full-LED illumination. You can have it in two colour options — Metallic Mat Stellar Blue and Metallic Mystic Silver. Suzuki says the bike will be available at its dealerships after the 4th of July. Make sure that you have Rs. 13.61 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) spare in your bank account because that’s how much the Suzuki Katana will cost you. Also, don’t forget to check back for our review on it.
