More from Motoring

Set to go on sale in April this year, the Hero Xtreme 200R has finally been unveiled. This is the first new motorcycle in the 200 cc segment by Hero MotoCorp. It will be showcased at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018 next month, and dealers will begin taking bookings for the same shortly.

Designed and developed by Hero’s in-house R&D team, the Hero Xtreme 200R is powered by a BS-IV-compliant 200 cc engine, which makes 18.14 bhp@8000 rpm and 1.74 kgm@6500 rpm. The motorcycle is claimed to do 0-60 kph in 4.6 seconds, while the top-speed is 114 kph (again, manufacturer claimed).

The Xtreme 200R will be available in five dual-tone colour combinations, disc brakes on both wheels, and optional single-channel ABS. It also gets LED pilot lamps, LED tail lamps, digi-analogue instrument cluster, and contoured seat.

Head of Global Product Planning at Hero MotoCorp, Halo Le Masson said, “The all-new Xtreme 200R is a bold and focussed step towards re-shaping our presence in the premium segment. The Xtreme 200R is a real head-turner, which combined with competitive performance is going to appeal to the youth in India as well in our global markets. This is only the beginning. From 2018 onwards, the focus for Hero MotoCorp in motorcycles is the premium segment, and we will continue to bring more products in this category.”
