BMW Motorrad has launched the BMW G 310 R at Rs 2.99 lakhs and its adventure-focussed iteration, the BMW G 310 GS at Rs 3.49 lakh, ex showroom. With the duo made in collaboration with TVS — and essentially manufactured by the latter — BMW Motorrad enters the sub-500-cc segment.

The liquid-cooled 313 cc single-cylinder engine makes 34 bhp, boasts a reverse-cylinder design, and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Most components are shared between the G 310 R and the G 310 GS apart from a few changes: fairing, suspension (longer travel on the GS), tyres etc. Brakes and fuel tank capacities are unchanged, but the GS variant is heavier by 10 kilos.
