Unveiled as a concept in November last year, BMW has now revealed the production version of its latest electric scooter, christened the CE 04. Soon to be launched in the international markets, the e-scooter follows a very unconventional design that is very futuristic and minimalistic, yet packed with loads of features and tech.

The streamlined contours of the scooter and the unconventional side profile could be a heads up to what scooters of the years would possibly look like. Interestingly, the CE 04 is a production model and the large side panels, minimal rear section and compact yet striking front end make for an EV scooter that many would want to have in their garage. On the tech front, the CE 04 comes with LED lighting, a large 10.24-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, three riding modes (Eco, Rain and Road) and a ventilated USB-C charging port.

Propelling the BMW CE 04 is a liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor and is rated to produce 41.57-bhp of power. The unit draws its power from an 8.9 kWh air-cooled lithium-ion battery, which on a full charge is capable of offering a range of 130 kilometres. And for charging time, it takes only an hour and forty minutes when done via a fast charger. The CE 04 is rated to a top speed of 120kph and is capable of accelerating from 0-50kph in 2.6 seconds. For rider aids, the scooter is equipped with dual-channel ABS, automatic stability control, dynamic traction control and also an emergency call system.

The CE 04 has been built around a tubular steel frame and is suspended by a 35mm telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock with preload adjustment for the rear. The e-scooter rides on 15-inch wheels wrapped with a 120-section tyre at the front and a 160-section tyre at the back. Braking duties are handled by twin discs at the front and a single disc for the rear.

BMW will be launching the CE 04 in the international market by 2022 starting with Germany. It will be available in two colour options, Grey Metallic and Light White. The former features orange highlights and various graphics while the latter follows a Black/Grey and White theme.
